3A. Data collection on our website

Cookies

Some of these web pages use cookies. Cookies do not damage your computer and do not contain viruses. They make our service more user-friendly, efficient and secure. Cookies are small text files stored on your computer by your browser.

You can configure your browser to inform you when cookies are set, allow cookies only in individual cases, reject cookies in specific cases or generally, and automatically delete cookies when the browser closes. Disabling cookies may limit this website's functionality.

Cookies required for electronic communication or to provide particular functions you request are stored on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in storing cookies to provide its services in a technically error-free and optimised manner. Other stored cookies (e.g. for analysing browsing behaviour) are addressed separately in this privacy policy.

Server log files

The website provider automatically collects and stores information in server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. This includes:

Browser type and version

Operating system used

Referrer URL

Hostname of the accessing computer

Time of the server request

IP address

This data is not combined with other data sources. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, which permits processing to perform a contract or take pre-contractual measures.

Contact and registration forms

If you send enquiries through our contact form, we store the information you provide, including your contact details, to process the enquiry and handle follow-up questions. We do not disclose this data without your consent.

Data entered in the contact form is processed exclusively on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw this consent at any time by sending us an informal email. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it.

We retain the data you enter in the contact form until you request its deletion, withdraw your consent to storage or the purpose of storage no longer applies. Mandatory statutory provisions, particularly retention periods, remain unaffected.

Processing customer and contract data

We collect, process and use personal data only insofar as necessary to establish, define or amend the legal relationship (master data), on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. We collect, process and use personal data about use of our website only where necessary to enable use of the service or to bill for it. Customer data collected is deleted after completion of the order or termination of the business relationship. Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

3B. Processing professional contact data outside the website (B2B targeting)

In addition to data collected on this website, we process professional personal data about business contacts and prospective customers in the course of our business activities.

Purpose of processing

We process this data to initiate business relationships with prospective customers, maintain and develop existing customer and partner relationships, prepare proposals, and coordinate communications and appointments.

Categories of personal data

Master data and professional details (e.g. name, position and company)

Business contact details (e.g. email address and telephone number)

Publicly available profile information (e.g. from professional networks such as LinkedIn)

Communication and meeting notes

Internal assessments of the business context, identified as such

Sources

Data comes from direct communication with you (email, telephone and meetings), publicly accessible sources (e.g. company websites and professional networks) and internal evaluations of meeting notes.

Legal basis

Processing is based on our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR in efficiently offering consulting services and deliberately establishing and maintaining business relationships. The legitimate interest prevails because the processed data relates exclusively to a professional context.

Recipients

We use IT service providers (SaaS) as processors, for example for hosting, communication and CRM. Transfers to third countries may occur; in these cases, we ensure appropriate safeguards, particularly EU standard contractual clauses. We provide a list of our processors on request.

Retention period

We store data for as long as necessary for the stated purposes: until the end of active business relationships, or otherwise generally up to two years after the last interaction, unless statutory retention obligations require otherwise.

Profiling

We create structured compilations of professional information about business contacts. No exclusively automated decisions producing legal effects or similarly significantly affecting individuals are made (Article 22 GDPR).

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and delete your stored data, and to object to processing, particularly where data is processed for direct marketing (Article 21 GDPR). If you object, we will no longer process your data for these purposes. Please contact the address stated in the legal notice.

4. Social media

Sharing content through plugins (Xing and LinkedIn)

Content on our pages can be shared on social networks such as Xing and LinkedIn in compliance with data protection requirements. This site uses a sharing tool that establishes direct contact between the networks and users only when a user actively clicks one of these buttons. The tool does not automatically transfer user data to the platform operators. Users can share this site's content on social networks in compliance with data protection requirements without the network operators creating complete browsing profiles.

Privacy policy for the use of Xing

Our website uses features of the XING network. The provider is XING AG, Dammtorstraße 29–32, 20354 Hamburg, Germany. Each time one of our pages containing Xing features is accessed, a connection is established to Xing servers. To our knowledge, no personal data is stored in this process. In particular, no IP addresses are stored and usage behaviour is not evaluated. Further information about data protection and the Xing Share button is available in Xing's privacy policy at:

Privacy policy for the use of LinkedIn

Our website uses features of the LinkedIn network. The provider is LinkedIn Corporation, 2029 Stierlin Court, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Each time one of our pages containing LinkedIn features is accessed, a connection is established to LinkedIn servers. LinkedIn is informed that you have visited our website using your IP address. If you click LinkedIn's Recommend button while logged into your LinkedIn account, LinkedIn can associate your visit with you and your account. As the website provider, we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or its use by LinkedIn. Further information is available in LinkedIn's privacy policy at:

5. Analytics tools and advertising

Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics (GA4), a web analytics service provided by Google. GA4 uses cookies or similar technologies to collect usage data in aggregated form. We use GA4 with IP truncation. Data may be transferred to servers in third countries; we use appropriate safeguards, including EU standard contractual clauses. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in analysing and improving our website). You can prevent storage through appropriate browser settings or opt out.

IP anonymisation

We have enabled IP anonymisation on this website. Google therefore truncates your IP address within EU member states or other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area before transmission to the USA. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. On behalf of the website operator, Google uses this information to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activity and provide further services relating to website and internet use. The IP address transmitted by your browser through Google Analytics is not combined with other Google data.

Browser plugin

You can prevent cookies from being stored by configuring your browser software accordingly; however, you may then be unable to use all website functions in full. You can also prevent Google from collecting data generated by the cookie relating to your website use (including your IP address), and from processing this data, by downloading and installing the browser plugin at: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

Objecting to data collection

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by clicking the following link. An opt-out cookie is set to prevent data collection during future visits: Disable Google Analytics. More information about the handling of user data by Google Analytics is available in Google's privacy policy: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=de.

Data processing agreement

We have concluded a data processing agreement with Google and fully implement the strict requirements of the German data protection authorities when using Google Analytics.

Demographic features in Google Analytics

This website uses the demographic features function of Google Analytics. This allows reports to be generated about the age, gender and interests of visitors. This data comes from interest-based Google advertising and third-party visitor data. It cannot be assigned to any specific person. You can disable this function at any time in your Google account's advertising settings or generally prevent collection by Google Analytics as described under "Objecting to data collection".

Google Analytics Remarketing

Our websites use Google Analytics Remarketing together with the cross-device functions of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. This function links advertising audiences created with Google Analytics Remarketing to the cross-device functions of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. Interest-based, personalised advertising tailored to your previous usage and browsing behaviour on one device (e.g. a mobile phone) can then also appear on another device (e.g. a tablet or PC). If you have consented, Google links your web and app browsing history to your Google account for this purpose. The same personalised advertisements can then appear on every device on which you sign in to your Google account. To support this function, Google Analytics collects Google-authenticated user IDs, temporarily linked to our Google Analytics data, to define and create audiences for cross-device advertising. You can permanently object to cross-device remarketing/targeting by disabling personalised advertising in your Google account: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/. Data is combined in your Google account exclusively on the basis of consent you give to or withdraw from Google (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Where collected data is not combined in your Google account (e.g. because you have no Google account or have objected), collection is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the website operator's interest in anonymised analysis of visitors for advertising purposes. Further information and privacy terms are available at: https://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/.

Google AdWords and conversion tracking

This website uses Google AdWords, an online advertising program of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States ("Google"). As part of Google AdWords, we use conversion tracking. When you click a Google advertisement, a conversion-tracking cookie is set. Cookies are small text files stored by the browser on the user's computer. These cookies expire after 30 days and do not personally identify users. If the user visits certain pages on this website before the cookie expires, Google and we can recognise that the user clicked the advertisement and was redirected to this page. Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies cannot be tracked across AdWords customers' websites. Information obtained using conversion cookies is used to compile conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers learn the total number of users who clicked their advertisement and were redirected to a page bearing a conversion-tracking tag. They do not receive information that can personally identify users. If you do not wish to participate in tracking, you can object by disabling the Google conversion-tracking cookie through your browser's user settings. You will then not be included in conversion statistics. Conversion cookies are stored on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analysing usage behaviour to optimise its website and advertising. More information is available in Google's privacy policy: https://www.google.de/policies/privacy/. You can configure your browser to inform you when cookies are set, allow them only individually, reject them in specific cases or generally, and automatically delete cookies when the browser closes. Disabling cookies may limit website functionality.

6. Newsletter

Newsletter data

To subscribe to the newsletter offered on the website, we need your email address and information allowing us to verify that you own that email address and consent to receiving the newsletter. No other data is collected, except voluntarily. We use this data exclusively to send the requested information and do not disclose it to third parties. Data entered in the newsletter registration form is processed exclusively with your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw consent to storage of your data and email address and their use to send the newsletter at any time, for example through the unsubscribe link. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing already carried out. Data stored to receive the newsletter is retained until you unsubscribe and is deleted after unsubscription. Data stored for other purposes (e.g. email addresses for a members' area) remains unaffected.

MailChimp

This website uses MailChimp to send newsletters. The provider is Rocket Science Group LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA. MailChimp is a service used, among other things, to organise and analyse newsletter distribution. Data entered for a newsletter subscription (e.g. email address) is stored on MailChimp servers in the USA. MailChimp is certified under the EU–US Privacy Shield, an agreement between the EU and USA intended to ensure European data protection standards in the USA. MailChimp enables us to analyse newsletter campaigns. When you open an email sent through MailChimp, a file in the email (a web beacon) connects to MailChimp servers in the USA. This identifies whether a newsletter was opened and which links were clicked. Technical information is also collected (e.g. time of access, IP address, browser type and operating system). This information cannot be assigned to individual newsletter recipients. It serves exclusively to analyse newsletter campaigns statistically; results may be used to tailor future newsletters to recipients' interests. If you do not want MailChimp analysis, you must unsubscribe. Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link; you can also unsubscribe directly on the website. Processing is based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing already carried out. Subscription data is retained until you unsubscribe and is then deleted from both our servers and MailChimp servers. Data stored for other purposes (e.g. email addresses for a members' area) remains unaffected. Details are available in MailChimp's terms: https://mailchimp.com/legal/terms/

Conclusion of a data processing agreement

We have concluded a data processing agreement with MailChimp requiring it to protect our customers' data and not disclose it to third parties. This agreement can be viewed at: https://mailchimp.com/legal/forms/data-processing-agreement/sample-agreement/.
