Time—and lifetime—is irreplaceable
It is that time again: the year is drawing to a close, the season of reflection approaches, and with it the birth of New Year’s resolutions. We look back on 2021 and are astonished by how quickly it has passed again:
Time. Our lifetime!
Or, in the words of Bishop T. D. Jakes:
You can take my suit. I could get another one.
You could take my car. I could get another one.
You could take my house. I could get another house.
But when you take my time - you have taken something from me that is totally irreplaceable.
So here is my suggestion for your review of 2021: ask yourself, “What did I spend my time on in 2021? Which decisions did I make, and which did I not make?”
Which topics, projects and people received your time this year that, looking back, you would consider time wasted? If you want to make an even greater difference in 2022, now is the time to consider what you no longer want to do!
Incidentally, this is also one of the most important questions when setting a company’s strategic direction:
What do we no longer want to do, and will we consistently stop it before piling on new topics and projects?
