Easier said than done: love it, change it, leave it!

Henry Ford coined this saying, and he was right: I have met many people who chose “blame it” instead of “leave it”. People who merely complain and criticise problems behind others’ backs often set the fires of a toxic organisational culture.

I discovered myself that profound professional change requires considerable courage, several trusting conversations and, ultimately, great self-confidence.

The most rewarding experience for me was the feeling of self-determination. That is what freedom feels like!

Looking back, moving towards new shores makes it possible to recognise that even poor leadership role models taught you something, while feeling gratitude and respect for the wonderful people you encountered along the way.

Hands up—it’s the weekend!
