“Show me your starting line-up, and I will tell you how the race ends…”

“There are two prerequisites for people to be ready to move towards something new:
1. #Enthusiasm for the big goal,
OR
2. the #PressureToChange is great enough.”

Dieter Lange

If you find neither in your company, Dieter Lange says, nothing will happen!

I agree one hundred per cent. This is exactly where professional #ProjectManagement in organisational change projects begins. I would simply replace OR with AND:

1. Communicate clarity and enthusiasm for the big goal of strategic #Transformation

AND
2. Maintain pressure to change through maximum transparency about project progress

I have seen so many corporate strategies fail in consultants’ glossy slides because the starting line-up for strategic transformation INSIDE the company was wrong. For some entrepreneurs and leaders, strategy is dealt with once a slick vision and mission have been formulated and displayed in the company’s shop window. I believe that is where it begins. Above all, I believe Dieter Lange when he says:

“You recognise winners at the start—and losers too!”
