MIT study, July 2025: 95% of GenAI pilots deliver zero ROI. $40 billion invested — and hardly any measurable impact.
That is "The GenAI Divide".
You use ChatGPT and perhaps other tools. There is a budget.
But where is the impact on the P&L?
The brutal reality of 2025:
MIT, July 2025: 95% of GenAI pilots are stuck — no measurable ROI, despite 30–40 billion in investment.
Deloitte, October 2025: "AI ROI Paradox" — investment rises, returns fail to materialise.
BCG, September 2025: only 5% are "AI-future built" — the rest remain trapped in pilots.
The problem? GenAI does not fail because of technology.
It fails because of three things:
1. Integration
95% of pilots fail because tools do not learn, integrate or fit real workflows.
You buy GenAI tools — but nobody builds the bridge between tool and process.
2. Leadership
Leadership waits for ROI, but nobody leads the transformation.
Without clear use cases, KPIs and governance, AI remains a plaything.
3. Structure
Your systems have no capacity to learn.
Generic tools like ChatGPT work for individuals — but within a company they do not adapt, integrate or learn.
The good news:
The 5% that succeed extract millions in value.
What do they do differently? They treat AI as a transformation issue, not a tool.
Clear use cases. Real integration. Leadership commitment.
