Leaving your comfort zone: why “facing nothing” can be a moment of happiness

“I hate my job, but at least I have a salary.”
“I hate my relationship, but at least I am not alone.”
“I am unhappy with where I am in life, but at least I have something.”

Do these thoughts sound familiar? They are widespread and rest on the belief that “something is better than nothing”. Yet that is the biggest lie we tell ourselves. We are often so frightened of the unknown that we hold on to an unhappy status quo simply because it offers an apparent sense of security.

The truth is that having nothing can be more powerful than having something that makes us unhappy. The emptiness of “nothing” offers room for reflection, new beginnings and discovery. It can help us gain clarity and find the courage to make the change we really need.

Stop settling for “something”. Dare to explore “nothing”. See it as a game-changing moment rather than fearing it.
