Just get on with it.

This is how cultural change succeeds on the shop floor.

Anyone entering DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung’s Kassel plant sees historic buildings from the 19th century. Inside, however: state-of-the-art maintenance technology.

Tradition outside – transformation inside.

A powerful image of change that grows from mindset – with respect for what exists and clarity about what is new.

Yesterday, I met

Thomas Killmaier

there again – a companion from my

Lufthansa Technik

days.

We had not seen each other for years – and yet it felt like yesterday.

What particularly impressed me:

How Thomas leads this complex maintenance environment with calm, composure and absolute presence – and implements cultural change pragmatically and effectively.

Not in glossy slides – but as part of operational reality.

“Just get on with it” – his motto gets to the heart of it.

And it works.

In wheelset overhaul, for example:

🔧 Every single wheelset – from the ICE 3 to the regional train – is dismantled here, overhauled through several stations and reassembled in exactly the same configuration.

💡 Hundreds of these orders run in parallel.

Almost invisible from the outside, this is a production logistics masterpiece on the inside – made possible by clarity, structure and mindset.

Transformation you can touch.

Thank you, Thomas, for this open and inspiring exchange.

I look forward to continuing our conversation – soon in Hamburg.
