The greater the change in the subject matter, the less its implementation is about the subject matter.

It sounds paradoxical – but this is exactly what causes many change processes to fail.

Because change does not only affect structures, processes or technologies. It affects people – with fears, hopes and their own personal stories.

What is discussed in meetings as an objective necessity often triggers emotional reactions among employees: uncertainty, resistance or withdrawal.

And the greater the change, the more noticeable the emotional dimension becomes.

A helpful model for understanding this: the grief curve.

It shows how people respond to loss – and why acceptance requires time, space and honest communication.

💬 Anyone who truly wants to shape change must recognise: It is not just about what changes, but how we deal with it.
