Welcome back. Welcome to 2026.

Right now, I am enjoying the fantastic winter landscape here in Hamburg. It is supposed to stay this way all week — so perfect that you could almost believe an AI from the Black Forest had hallucinated it. 😉

Speaking of hallucinations: what I imagined 2025 would be like 12 months ago bears little resemblance to how the year actually unfolded.

And a glance at the world shows that it is not just me. Who could have predicted a year ago everything that is happening now?

New resolutions will not help either. Most will be history by the end of January anyway.

What helps instead:

→ Clarity before complexity. That also means having a clear direction — while remaining agile enough to adjust the route. Making decisions. Even when not everything is clear.

→ Effectiveness before frantic activity

→ Delivery before talk

Things will turn out differently than expected. Projects we had high hopes for will flop. And others will emerge that we cannot imagine today.

But that is precisely what makes 2026 exciting.

I look forward to continuing to share my thoughts with you. And if you fancy doing more than quietly reading along: I welcome every comment. 😉

I wish you all good health, much success and, above all, confidence — and a good start to the new year.

Thank you for believing in effective leadership.

❓ What is at the top of your list for 2026?
