Everyone nods after the meeting. Then everyone does whatever they want.

Not because the people are bad.

But because nobody has defined who decides what.

Three symptoms I see in every growing organisation:

📌 The same decision is discussed in three committees — and made in none.

📌 Leaders escalate issues they could resolve themselves — because mandates are unclear.

📌 Problems land on the CEO’s desk that belong two levels below.

We saw exactly this in a company with 800 employees:

3 committees → 1 decision → 6 weeks.

This is not a leadership problem.

It is a governance problem.

Governance sounds like bureaucracy.

It is not.

The one question governance clarifies:

Who decides what — and what happens when there is conflict?

As long as that is unresolved,

the loudest voice decides. Or nobody does.

Governance is not control. Governance is clarity.

Where is that clarity missing in your organisation?
