When leadership is absent, the monkeys take over.

When leadership is absent, the monkeys take over.

Not because no one has been appointed – but because leadership is not happening.

Where clarity and consistency are missing, a vacuum forms.

And it gets filled: by the loud, the fast, the opinionated. Not necessarily by the most competent.

The real problem:

Leadership is often formally present – on paper.

But in practice it remains weak:

No decisions, no direction, no presence. Conflicts are swept under the carpet!

Leadership does not mean controlling everything.

But it does mean: Taking responsibility. Showing conviction. Being consistent.

Because when leadership does not lead, the result is not freedom – but confusion.

And eventually, those who are loudest take over – the monkeys run the zoo!

How do you ensure in your leadership team that leadership is more than a role, and actually has an impact?
