80% of large companies have reorganised in the last 5 years.

Only a third of them were successful.

That is not a coincidence. It is a pattern.

I see it regularly in consulting:

A company starts its third reorganisation in five years.

The first already cost six months of execution capacity.

Afterwards, nothing worked better. Only the organisation chart looked different.

Why?

Because it follows no clear strategy.

And because there is no operating model behind it.

A reorganisation moves boxes on an organisation chart.

An operating model defines how decisions flow, how accountability is distributed — and how strategy is actually implemented.

Put another way:

A reorganisation changes lines.

An operating model changes decisions.

Without this foundation, the next reorganisation is not a question of if, but when.

Leaders who truly transform do not ask this before every change:

‘Who reports to whom?’

They ask:

‘How must we collaborate and decide for our strategy to work?’

That is the difference between reorganisation and real transformation.

How many reorganisations has your company experienced in the last 5 years?
