The invisible loyalty stamp booklet
Do you know those little booklets from the bakery? You get a loyalty stamp for every bread roll – and after ten, you get one free.
A simple loyalty scheme. And a surprisingly apt metaphor for what often happens between people.
We collect in everyday life too – except that it works the other way round.
Loyalty does not earn a reward. Instead, accumulated hurts eventually bring a reckoning.
Small disappointments, unspoken criticism, repeated misunderstandings.
Each individual stamp seemingly harmless – but eventually, the inner booklet is full.
Then a trivial incident is enough – and triggers a reaction that seems completely exaggerated to outsiders.
But in reality, it was just the final stamp that was missing.
A reverse loyalty programme.
Instead of connection, a rupture develops.
What would help? Early feedback. Open communication, before the booklet fills up.
Because good relationships thrive on speaking – not silence.
With which people you regularly interact with have you already started such a booklet inside?
How full is it, actually?
And: Have you ever asked this question out loud?
